Simon Cooper holds a 1st class Masters of Physics degree from the University of Manchester, where his final year research projects involved study of holographic growth in photorefractive polymer composites and the development of improvements to a demonstration electron accelerator. He joined the firm in September 2001, immediately after graduating. Simon qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2005 and as a UK Registered Patent Attorney in 2007, and became a shareholder and director of the firm in 2010. Simon's practice involves principally the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the mechanical and electrical fields. He has extensive experience of components for use in anaesthesia and breathing circuits, medical devices, the technology of electrical power distribution, photographic accessories, the construction industry and materials testing. Simon also handles the majority of the firm's trade mark and design work. Simon is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, and a member of the European Patents Institute and of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property.

Nic Ferrar holds a Masters of Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Leeds. After graduating, Nic took a commercial role within the engineering software industry, which involved managing accounts in the automotive, aerospace and marine industries. Nic joined the patent profession in 2003, working for a London-based private practice. Since that time Nic has also gained experience in industry, at Rolls-Royce plc, where he both handled a patent prosecution caseload and advised the business on commercial Intellectual Property matters. Nic qualified as a Registered UK Patent Attorney in 2007 and has handled a wide variety of technical subject matter across all engineering disciplines, but maintains a strong interest in software-related innovations in the fields of design, analysis, control, diagnostics and health monitoring. Nic is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and a member of the Institute’s Computer Technology Committee, and a Member of the European Patents Institute.

Paul Loughrey studied Physics at the University of Durham, where he obtained a Masters degree. After a period in industry, Paul obtained a further Masters degree, this time in Mechanical Engineering Design, from the University of Manchester. Paul entered the patent profession in 2005 and obtained the Postgraduate Certificate in IP Law from the University of London in 2007. After spells with two other UK patent attorney firms, Paul joined AdamsonJones in September 2009. Paul works primarily with director Simon Cooper and assists with all aspects of patent drafting and prosecution.
