Simon Cooper is a UK and European Patent Attorney, a UK Registered Trade Mark Attorney, and a European Trade Mark and Design Attorney. He holds a 1st class Masters of Physics degree from the University of Manchester, and has over 10 years of experience in IP.
Simon advises a wide range of different companies in respect of IP, with a particular focus on patents and registered designs in the fields of mechanical and electrical engineering, medical devices and electronics, as well as associated trade mark protection. Simon obtains patent, trade mark and design protection for clients, and provides advice regarding freedom to operate and IP strategy. Simon is also experienced in contentious matters, including oppositions before the EPO.
Simon is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA), and a member of the European Patents Institute (EPI), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), the International Trademark Association (INTA), and the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
Simon manages the Physical Sciences and Engineering team of AdamsonJones, which handles a wide range of technologies, including mechanical and electrical engineering, medical devices, electronics and software. Simon also manages the Trade Marks team, which is particularly experienced in branding for technology companies.
Simon is responsible for the operational systems of AdamsonJones, and sits on the Board of Directors.

Nic Ferrar holds a Masters of Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Leeds. After graduating, Nic took a commercial role within the engineering software industry, which involved managing accounts in the automotive, aerospace and marine industries. Nic joined the patent profession in 2003, working for a London-based private practice. Since that time Nic has also gained experience in industry, at Rolls-Royce plc, where he both handled a patent prosecution caseload and advised the business on commercial Intellectual Property matters. Nic qualified as a Patent Attorney in 2007 and has handled a wide variety of technical subject matter across all engineering disciplines, but maintains a strong interest in software-related innovations in the fields of design, analysis, control, diagnostics and health monitoring. Nic is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and a member of the Institute’s Computer Technology Committee, and a Member of the European Patents Institute.

Paul Loughrey studied Physics at the University of Durham, where he obtained a Masters degree. After a period in industry, Paul obtained a further Masters degree, this time in Mechanical Engineering Design, from the University of Manchester. Paul obtained the Postgraduate Certificate in IP Law from the University of London in 2007. Paul joined AdamsonJones in September 2009 and qualified as a UK patent attorney in April 2013.
Paul works in our Physical Sciences & Engineering team, and assists with all aspects of patent drafting and prosecution.
