Simon Cooper, managing director at AdamsonJones, has been appointed chair of the External Affairs Working Group, one of four working groups that makes up the Education & Professional Standards Committee at the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA).
Also a member of the Educational Activities Working Group, another group that forms the Education & Professional Standards Committee, Simon is one of the few committee members not from London or from one of the larger patent attorney firms.
Simon says "I joined the committee with the intention of being closely involved in the upcoming developments in education and professional standards in the patent attorney profession.
"The continued professional development of our personnel ensures that our team provides clients with the highest standards of quality in the work that they do. AdamsonJones has an excellent record of developing its Patent Assistants and training them through to qualification as UK and European Patent Attorneys, however it is also important to offer qualified professionals the opportunity to develop new skills as well as honing their existing ones.
