Extension of European Patents to Montenegro
The European Patent Office has entered into an agreement with the Government of Montenegro on the extension of European patents to that country. Applicants for European patents filed from 1 March 2010 may request that the effect of the European patent application be extended to Montenegro.
Although Montenegro is not a contracting state to the European Patent Convention, this agreement means that protection can be obtained in that country by means of a European patent application, in essentially the same manner as for those countries that are full members of the European patent system.
