Proposals have been brought forward for the removal of "relative grounds" of objection from UK Trade Mark practice.   When implemented, these proposals will place a greater onus on trade mark applicants to decide whether to pursue applications in the face of conflicting marks, and will increase the need for trade mark owners to maintain an active policy of opposing marks that conflict with their rights.
