Adamson Jones launch AJ2EPO charity challenge

As part of our 20 years in business celebrations, Adamson Jones is undertaking a huge challenge to complete a virtual journey from our office at BioCity in Nottingham all the way to the European Patent Office (EPO) in Munich.

The 22-strong team will attempt to collectively walk, cycle, and run the 750.5 miles in just 20 days, starting Monday 13 July and finishing Saturday 1 August, the day the company officially started. The firm hope to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society, a UK charity that helps those living with dementia, and The Friary, a Nottingham-based charity that provides support to homeless persons in the area.

Marketing manager, Rachel Biggin explains “We had a team charity walk planned in May, but with the social distancing restrictions in place it just wasn’t possible. Instead, we came up with the idea of taking part in a virtual journey, with individuals logging their runs, rides and walks on Strava to contribute towards the team’s mileage goal.”

Simon Cooper, managing director at Adamson Jones says “Now, more than ever, charities like these need donations to help the disadvantaged and vulnerable survive the Covid-19 crisis. This challenge is a great way for the team to get together, albeit virtually, keep active and hopefully raise a significant amount of money for our charities.”

Helen Jones, marketing & communications officer for The Friary said, “We are absolutely delighted that Adamson Jones has been able to find a way to continue the fundraising for us, especially when so many events have been shelved due to lockdown and the constraints we’re all under. The Friary has stayed open throughout. We have needed to offer an ‘at the door’ service for a few weeks as it isn’t safe for 100+ people to congregate inside the  Drop-in but we are managing to hand out food/clothes, advice and enable people to claim benefits and see a doctor when needed. Rough sleepers have thankfully been given temporary accommodation in local hotels but that will soon come to an end.”

Adamson Jones received this statement from the Alzheimer’s Society, “Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have suspended all our face-to-face and group services. Yet, the need for Alzheimer’s Society’s services has never been more urgent so we have adapted our provision to provide more telephone and virtual support. Since the crisis began our trained staff have made more than 96,6000 Welfare Calls to people affected by dementia to check how they are coping and to signpost to support.”
