Google to purchase patents?
22nd July 2015
Google have recently undertaken a promotion in which third parties were able to offer their US patents (not including design patents) for sale to Google at a fixed price, with Google then deciding whether or not they wish to purchase the patent. The window in which submissions were able to be made by third parties ran from 8-22 May 2015, and Google are now undertaking a review of all submissions to identify which, if any, they would like to purchase. Apparently large numbers of submissions were made, and it will be interesting to see how many, if any, patents are purchased as a result of this promotion.
