Thailand joins PCT

Thailand recently agreed to become a member of the Patent Co-operation Treaty (PCT), and it has now been announced that its instrument of accession to the PCT was submitted to the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) on 24 September 2009.

The PCT is expected to enter into force for Thailand on 24 December 2009, whereupon Thailand will become the 142nd contracting party of the PCT.

Thailand will be designated in PCT applications filed after 24 December 2009, and only PCT applications filed after that date will be able to enter the national phase in Thailand.
