The founder of Adamson Jones, Dr Steve Jones remains an active consultant to the firm. Steve also serves as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors.
With a 1st Class BSc degree in Chemistry and a PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Leeds, Steve entered the patent profession in 1986, after spending a period in industry. He gained experience of both the in-house corporate environment and private practice, before leaving the firm at which he had become a partner, to establish Adamson Jones in 2000.
Steve's practice has an emphasis on the biomedical field. He has wide experience of pharmaceutical matters, especially in the fields of formulations and drug delivery devices, with particular experience of respiratory drug delivery and associated technologies, and also tissue sealants and adhesives and wound care. He has handled many contentious matters, in particular oppositions at the European Patent Office, representing both opponents and patentees, and has recent experience of patent infringement litigation in the UK.
Steve is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, a member of the European Patents Institute, the Royal Society of Chemistry and a Foreign Member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
Steve appears within The Legal 500 UK 2016 rankings as a 'Recommended Lawyer' and this is what the survey said:
'The patent team at Adamson Jones Ip Ltd has experience representing medium and large domestic manufacturers. The firm's main office is in BioCity Nottingham and in May 2014 it opened a second workplace, located in MediCity. Managing director and physical sciences expert Simon Cooper and founding partner Steve Jones are also recommended.'
The Legal 500 UK 2015 rankings recommended Steve Jones as having "outstanding knowledge and experience of the complex medical field".'
